How long does it take to recover after pneumonia?
October 23rd, 2009 | by admin |I’m 25 years old in excellent physical shape. I recently had , what doctors think was, mycoplasma pneumonia. This was in early March. Ever since then my asthma is out of control , I cannot exercise, I have shortness of breath, and my lungs feel like they’ve shrunk. I’ve seen a pulmonologist and been to the hospital and doctor many times. They don’t seem to know what is wrong. I’m thinking it could simply be scarred lungs or post-pneumonia asthma exacerbation. All X-rays and CT’s were negative. Any help would be greatly appreciated
I was in a similar situation last year. First make sure your taking a long-term asthma puffer like Seretide, that builds up the strength in your lungs, as well as the normal ventolin etc. as required. This should help you in feeling better. Also have a look at hyper-ventilation syndrome, I know it feels so much like physical pain but try some breathing exercises / meditation too, this can make a huge difference. Good Luck.
