Bronchiectasis-Chronic Lung Disease-The Vest Therapy

Herb has Bronchiectasis. This condition is a chronic lung disease that causes him to get lung infections quite often. The Vest, by Hill Rom vibrates his lungs and breaks the mucus loose so that it can’t sit in there and grow into infection.
He puts the vest on, and when he turns it on, the compressor fills the vest with air and vibrates him. He does this 20 minutes, twice a day.

    o Helen, We got the machine through Hill Rom. His pulmonologist had to recommend it and the insurance denied it, but we appealed and they finally approved it. The machine is extrememly expensive. We think it’s $16,000 or so. Praise the Lord our insurance covered all but about $1200. Ask your doctor about it. Before Herb got “Thumper” he had an infection every single month. He has not had an infection in a year and 1/2 now!! All because of “The Vest by Hill Rom” I will pray you can get it!

    Yeah, thats exactly right. The respiratory system deals with the gas exchange in the lungs. Cool subject when ya look deep in it.
