wheezing (like asthma), ongoing cough of mucus (esp. with bronchitis), shortness of breath upon exertion are common symptoms of COPD. but again, not everyone with COPD has these symptoms. it also depends on the severity. if yours is severe, your peripherals (e.g. lips, nails) may appear blue.

    there is no cure …
there is no cure and a person who has this will slowly succumb to it . it can take a long time and usually takes at least a cat scan to determine one has it . I stopped smoking 2 years ago and breathing is harder now .The purpose of the doctor is medication to help slow the process and make breathing easier but itsall temporary and probably less than 2 decades mortality .

    They say “live life …
They say “live life to its fullest, why stop now?”
Living life to the fullest extent should not include air hunger, anxieties related to shortness of breath. Activity intolerance because of no strength. How about chronic pain loaded with narcotics because of cancer that has spread throughout the body. Lastly, how about a family member sitting next to you questioning why? over your dead body, when others are celebrating christmas. That is my experience as a nurse.
