Yes, it's an uncommon infection which affects people who have depressed immune systems. It is in the same family as TB but not as catchy to normal people. There are lots of ways to treat it. It is spelled with a "y", mycobacterium. Good luck.

Can you be born with bronchitis, emphysema, lung cancer, or asthma? Are they?
This sounds like a homework question.
I'm gonna take a guess and say:
1. Emphysema - alpha 1 anti-trypsin defiecency. Its hereditary
2. Asthma - also hereditary
3. Cystic Fibrosis
There is also persistant pulmonary hypertension, but that's probably more of a cardiac ...

I'm a 21 yr old female, never smoked, average weight.
